week 26 recap

Another week came and went so quickly. I can't believe it!

Over the weekend, I went to Target and got my registry set up. It was pretty fun looking through all the baby stuff and making lists of everything we need. I wandered the isles for about an hour and by the time I got back to the car my feet were starting to swell and my socks left indents on my ankles. Oh boy, here comes the fun part of pregnancy... not!

On Sunday morning I was woken up by Jackson kicking and punching both sides of my belly. Sean says he was jumping on the bed to wake me up and make breakfast!

Today I went in for my prenatal check up and it was another quick one with the doctor. Aside from the regular routine, I had to drink a bottle of glucose/juice for them to check for gestational diabetes. I had to wait downstairs in the lab for an hour before I could get my blood drawn and I'll get results in a week or so.

The only thing the doctor was concerned about was my rapid weight gain in the last month. I'm not going to say how much, but he did say I've put on a few too many pounds! I blame it on the rain... I don't like walking at night when it's raining outside. That, and I have been having some "round ligament pain" that makes exercise a little more painful. Ok, and I guess I've been eating a little too much junk food lately as well :/

Here's the weekly photo of my big ol' belly:

Quite a week!

Sorry for the late post, but this was quite an exhausting week. To start, my company announced that due to our current economic situation, they had no choice but to make mandatory workforce cuts. While I am fortunate to still have a job, my heart goes out to those who were let go on Wednesday.

I'm really trying to stay positive and not allowing myself stress and worry, because I know how harmful it can be for the baby.

Aside from the tension at work, my 25th week of the pregnancy went by smoothly and as you can see I'm really starting to get a big belly:

And in case it's hard to tell how big I actually am... here is a picture of Sean and I comparing our stomachs:

As for the updates, last weekend I finally gave in and did a little more shopping for maternity clothes. I went to Motherhood Maternity in Bellevue and picked up a few shirts for work and even a pair of pants! I was so excited that they were long and very comfortable. Being around other pregnant ladies was kind of comforting too... like I was in amongst my own breed:)

Sean's brother Dustin drove up to for a visit and came bearing gifts of more baby clothes, supplies, a bassinette, and even Sean's baby blanket! I just can't say enough how good our familes have been to us. I love looking into our room and seeing the bassinette. It really is making all of this become more and more real everyday.

Well I think this is about all for now. Look for a new picture next week!

week 24 continued

Since my last blog was so short I wanted to add a few things since I have a little more energy this evening... and by "energy" I mean the sugar rush I'm having from all the valentine's day candy I just ate. I'm sure I'll be crawling toward bed in an hour or so.

Well first things first, I owe a big thank you to both of my Mom's (Cindy & Dawn) for their wonderful baby gifts/clothes/supplies thus far. I swear my mom is keeping amazon.com in business with all the books she is sending my way. I'm pretty excited to read about "100 fun-filled activities to maximize your baby's potential" and "the no-cry sleep solution"!

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I just have to say how proud and lucky I am to have Sean as my husband. I am fortunate that he has been able to come to all of my prenatal checkups and lends me a shoulder to cry on when I just need a good cry. Not to mention he is always out of t-shirts and boxers since it's my new sleeping attire! We've got a lot of big decisions to make in the next few months, but he's got a way to reassure me that we will find a way to make things work.

Below is a picture of one of the small things in life that just make my heart melt. Sean hung some of the new baby clothes in his closet! It's a sweet jesture that shows me how excited he is for his son to get here!

On a lighter, a little less mushy note, I had a had a pretty cool experience last night. I was relaxing in the bath tub and admiring how my belly was poking out of the water like an island. I was laying very still and watching the water level rise and fall as I breathed in. Out of nowhere Jackson gave me a big kick and it sent a ripple through the water! Maybe it's a sign that he'll love the water and be a swimmer like me, haha!

tired & hungry

I am just finishing up week 24 and everything is good with me.

The baby must be going through a big growth spurt right now because I am hungry every two hours and I want nothing more than to pass out in bed at 8pm. I feel like I did back in the first trimester, just wiped out at the end of the day.
The one good thing about eating all the time is that I feel the baby kick constantly. Must be his way of saying mmm food!
Since I don't have much news for this week and quite frankly I'm too tired to think of anything creative to write, I'll leave you with with 2 new photos:

weird dreams, memory loss, and other updates

Today was an absolutely beautiful day outside and a good day to be finishing up week 23 of my pregnancy. I can barely believe I'm about 6 months pregnant! Time is really flying by!

I've been sleeping like a rock for the last few nights (mostly because I'm exhausted by the end of the day) but I've been having crazy vivid dreams like I did at the very beginning of the pregnancy. For the sake of not sounding like a nutcase I won't try and explain any of them on here, but let's just say there have been some mornings where I get up and wonder what the heck my mind was thinking about all night!

On top of all the crazy dreaming I've also been having some memory loss and overall pregnancy confusion. Just this week I was standing by the fax machine at work feeling confused and trying to remember which way to insert the paper and tonight I wandered all over the upstairs for about 10 minutes trying to find the camera we just used to take my weekly photo, only to find that it was sitting right here. I'm losing my mind ya'll!

Well enough about me... baby Jackson is doing pretty good this week and has been kicking pretty consistently around meal time and right before I go to bed. Just last night Sean got to feel him kick a few times so that was pretty special for both of us!
I think that is about it for updates, but until next week here is the weekly photo:
